Geographe has received this information as your representative organisation. It is up to individual wineries to determine if this is of interest to them.

With COVID-19 seriously disrupting every facet of our industry, the opportunities to deliver or sell product to the consumer through a severely congested on-line market are few and far between. On Monday, after intense lobbying by the LSAWA, the State Government removed its restrictions on take-away packaged liquor. Our independent retailers make up the only segment of the sector unaffected by restrictions.
If it is not addressed, COVID-19 will result in the END for many small and medium WA wine producing operations.

Since 1952 the Liquor Stores Association of Western Australia has been committed to working with and encouraging the growth of local businesses within our industry. Moreover, the LSAWA has been pivotal in changing legislation to protect its WA members to ensure their businesses continue to thrive. The board of LSAWA and I have created a new membership category, solely focused on small WA producers of Wine, Beer and Spirits. The concept will revolve around marketing your products to our existing members and their customers, while at the same time introducing you to our member banner groups. These people are the independent retailers of WA who we will be encouraged to act as YOUR cellar door across the state.

We want to create a sense of parochialism and loyalty never seen in our industry before. If we all work together, we have a better chance of coming out the other side of COVID-19 bigger and stronger.
If you would like to become a “Producer Member” then please email our memberships manager Natalie Brown at natalie@lsawa.asn.au and we can bring you up to speed on the work we are currently engaged in and help to turn things around.

Thank you for your time and please do stay safe.
Sincerely,
Peter Peck
CEO LSAWA
