Each exhibit (wine) will be nominated in one class only according to the following schedule.

PLEASE NOTE: For classes that are open to all of WA; NON Geographe Wine Region entries MUST be from a minimum 85% alternative varieties grown in WA. Wines or blends made primarily from the varieties muscat gordo, chardonnay, semillon, sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, merlot, shiraz, syrah, riesling, colombard and verdelho are NOT considered alternative varieties. However, they might be a minor component in a blended wine.

WHITE

1  Chardonnay (Geographe only)

2  Other dry white varietals and blends (Geographe only) non alternative

3  Vermentino (open to all WA)

4  Fiano (open to all WA)

5A  Other white alternative varietals & blends – lighter bodied, young, fresh (open to all WA)

5B  Other white alternative varietals & blends – fuller bodied, textural, luscious (open to all WA)

RED

6 Rosé (open to all WA)

7 Shiraz (Geographe only)

8 Cabernet Sauvignon (Geographe only)

9 Other red varietals – non alternative (Geographe only)

10 Red Blends (open to all WA) Non alternative variety blends must be from minimum 85% Geographe wine region. Alternative blends must be minimum 85% alternative varieties from WA

11A Tempranillo – youthful, fresh, juicy (open to all WA)

11B Tempranillo – more structured (open to all WA)

12 Malbec (open to all WA)

13 Zinfandel (open to all WA)

14A Red Italian Varietal – youthful, fresh, juicy (open to all WA)

14B Red Italian Varietal – more structured (open to all WA)

15 Other Red Iberian Varietals (open to all WA)

16A Other Alternative Red Varietals – young, fresh, juicy (open to all WA)

16B Other Alternative Red Varietals – more structured (open to all WA)

OTHER

17A  Sparkling white (open to all WA)
Made from white grapes made by traditional method, charmat or carbonation. (Not Petillant Naturel, Col Fondo – enter in class 20) Non Geographe Wine Region entries must be from minimum 85% WA alternative varieties.

17B  Sparkling Red/Pink (open to all WA)
Made from red grapes made by traditional method, charmat or carbonation. (Not Petillant Naturel, Col Fondo – enter in class 20) Non Geographe Wine Region entries must be from minimum 85% WA alternative varieties

18  Sweet Table Wines – white/pink/red (open to all WA)
Please refer to class notes on entry form for eligibility.

19  Fortified, dessert style wines (open to all WA)
Non Geographe Wine Region entries must be from minimum 85% WA alternative varieties.

20  Alternative styles (open to all WA)
Open to any commercial red or white wine that can be considered alternative in style to Western Australia. Examples may include petillant naturel (pet nat), skin contact/amber/orange wines, oxidative styles (non-fortified) Non Geographe Wine Region entries must be from minimum 85% WA alternative varieties.
