Wine lovers are spoilt for choice in Busselton, with boutique wineries and wine bars just a stone throw from the beautiful coastline. There is something truly magical about watching the sun go down over the Busselton waterfront with a glass of Geographe wine in hand.
Whicher Ridge Wines
Whicher Ridge is a genuine artisan wine producer growing and handmaking their wines on their property at Chapman Hill, close to Busselton. Neil and Cathy Howard have been growing grapes and making wine for a collective 45 plus years, and a wine tasting experience at Whicher Ridge is truly unique with its combination of a farm style Cellar Door, the ‘one of a kind’ Wine Sensory Garden and a tasting of the wines with Cathy, the winemaker.
THINGS TO SEE & DO
With the jetty as a focal point, the waterfront is a hive of activity. Take a walk or train ride to the end of the Busselton Jetty, which is one of the main Busselton attractions, to the Underwater Observatory where you can see amazing marine life.
Busselton Jetty
Extending 1.8 kilometres over stunning Geographe Bay, the 150 year old, heritage-listed Busselton Jetty is the longest timber-piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere.
Since the first 176m section was built in 1865, the Jetty has survived fires, a cyclone, storms and demolition plans to become one of the most recognisable landmarks in Western Australia. Today, the Jetty experience incorporates a leisurely train ride, interpretive centre, museum and underwater observatory.
The Busselton Museum
The Heritage Butter Factory and Busselton Museum has ten display rooms packed with photographs, equipment and memorabilia which trace the family, social, civic, commercial and maritime history of Busselton.Everything from agriculture to whaling; from crockery, clocks and cameras to sewing machines, travel and transport is included.
Whale Watching
The only way to really gauge the size and agility of the gigantic whales is to encounter them up close on a whale watching cruise. You’ll be in awe as you witness a small part of their magnificent journey and their antics along the way! The whale watching season in Busselton begins in September and runs until mid December from The Iconic Busselton Jetty, departing twice daily at 9.45am and 1.15pm.

On the coastal plains the effects of high ripening temperatures and sunshine hours are offset by the cooling afternoon breezes of coming off the Geographe Bay, creating a climate that is ideal for the production of full bodied table wines.
In the Whicher Range at Chapman Hill, temperatures are slightly cooler through the ripening period with the cool winds at night coming off the Southern Ocean, giving rise to wines with flavour intensity and finesse.

Full bodied table wines and port styles including Merlot, Shiraz, Grenache and Semillon on the coastal plains. In the cooler Whicher Range, light to medium bodied white table wines such as Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier, and medium to full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon.
Located 220 kilometres south west of Perth, the stunning holiday resort town of Busselton lies sheltered along the shore of Geographe Bay.
Also known as ‘the events capital of regional Western Australia’, Busselton is best known for its 1.8 kilometre long, wooden-piled jetty which has survived cyclone, storm and fire to retain its status as the longest timber-piled jetty in the southern hemisphere.
Here, visitors can stroll along a seemingly endless white, sandy beach towards Cape Naturaliste, 30 kilometres to the west.
The newly refurbished Busselton Foreshore is a lovely place to enjoy a relaxing afternoon with free barbecues, new children’s playground and beautiful views of the bay and Busselton Jetty.
